A 91-year-old driver has died from injuries she suffered after speeding from one parking lot to another and crashing outside an ice-skating rink in Bloomington, authorities said Wednesday.

Dying from the wreck about 11 p.m. on June 15 was Lorraine A. DeTuncq, of Bloomington, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

DeTuncq was taken from the crash scene, outside the Bloomington Ice Garden parking lot on W. 98th Street, to Hennepin County Medical Center and died there a week later, the medical examiner's office added.

DeTuncq was driving west through the National Guard Armory lot "at a high rate of speed," when she crashed over curbs and medians, police said.

When her car came to a stop in the rink parking lot, DeTuncq spoke with responding officers before being hospitalized, police added.

Police say they are still looking into why the car was going so fast.
