A Minnesota political fundraising group that supports female candidates for office is backing DFLer Angie Craig in her bid for the open Second Congressional District seat.
Craig, a St. Jude Medical executive, is competing with Mary Lawrence, a former VA doctor, for the DFL nod. Republicans David Gerson and John Howe are also running for the seat left open by the upcoming retirement of U.S. Rep. John Kline, and several other Republicans are still considering it.
The fundraising group, womenwinning, bills itself as "Minnesota's largest resource for women in politics." It supports candidates who are in favor of abortion remaining legal.
Craig has racked up a number of notable endorsements in the race including the United Steelworkers and from local elected officials.
