Craig Brischke of Tanners Brook Golf Club shot a 1-under 71 Tuesday to win his first Minnesota Senior PGA Professional Championship at Forest Hills Golf Club in Forest Lake.

State's Team USA grows

Team USA Minnesota added three runners — Breanna Sieracki, Tyler Jermann and Danny Docherty — to its roster this week.

Sieracki was an eight-time Division II All-America at Minnesota Duluth as Breanna Colbenson and qualified for the U.S. Outdoor Championships in the steeplechase.

Jermann will be a distance specialist (10-mile through marathon) after competing at Iowa State. He won the USATF 50K in 2:48 in March.

Docherty will run distances from a mile through the half marathon. The former Cretin-Derham Hall standout ran for Loyola (Chicago).

Frazee forfeits season

The Frazee football team will forfeit its games this season, athletic director and coach Nick Courneya announced Tuesday because of low roster numbers, according to a story in the Fargo Forum. The Hornets have only 27 healthy and eligible players, 23 of whom are freshmen or sophomores.

"We are unable to put our players in a position to safely start and finish a varsity football game," Courneya was quoted as saying.

St. Scholastica favored

St. Scholastica edged defending champion Northwestern (St. Paul) by one point in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference's preseason football coaches' poll. The Saints tied for second in the UMAC (7-2) record last year.
