Coyote coping tips

Here's what the state Department of Natural Resources recommends for coexisting with coyotes:

• Secure garbage containers, bird feeders and other food sources. Don't leave pet food outside.

• Confine small pets to kennels or watch them when outside.

• Consider installing coyote-proof fencing.

• Make noise or chase coyotes that don't immediately run from you.
