Couple on motorcycle crashes on I-35; 1 dead, 1 injured

The wreck occurred near the Forest Lake exit, according to the State Patrol.

A motorcycle crashed on an interstate on the northern edge of the Twin Cities, leaving a passenger dead and her husband injured, authorities said Sunday.

The wreck occurred about 6:10 p.m. Saturday on southbound Interstate 35 near the Forest Lake exit, according to the State Patrol.

Killed was a 66-year-old woman from Shoreview. The patrol said the passenger was wearing a helmet.

Hospitalized at North Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries was her 68-year-old husband. He did not have on a helmet, according to the patrol.

"The back tire started to wobble," the patrol said in a statement, "and the bike went down and rolled."

The patrol has yet to release the couple's identities.
