Couple found dead in Vadnais Heights townhouse

A young married couple were found dead Tuesday morning in a Vadnais Heights townhouse.

Authorities went to check on the residents -- believed to be a 19-year-old woman and 21-year-old man -- about 10:15 a.m. in the 800 block of Woodgate Drive.

The woman's co-worker called police to say she hadn't seen her in two days, said Ramsey County sheriff's spokesman Randy Gustafson.

Authorities broke in when they saw the bodies and made certain the couple were dead and that there was no other danger, he said.

Authorities had to wait about two hours for a search warrant so they could conduct a more thorough investigation, Gustafson said.

The couple's identities have not been released.

A neighbor last saw the couple on Saturday, Gustafson said. It's unclear how long they were dead before being discovered.

Authorities would not say how the couple died or release any details of what happened. Gustafson said that they do not believe the public is in danger.

Investigators combed the scene, and autopsies were expected to be completed Wednesday.

"I'm just honestly shocked that happened right across the street from me, so close," said Kara Blanchard, who lives in a townhouse across the parking lot.

Ryan Bynum lives near the couple, and said they were "just a great couple." He did not identify them.
