Could the system be improved? In January, a study group commissioned by the state Legislature recommended improvements to the guardian and conservator system. Here are some highlights:
Provide training for people appointed as guardians or conservators
Provide more information for family members about how guardians and conservators work
Use technology to allow the court and family members to track cases and spending
Create a better process for soliciting, handling and resolving complaints
Create a statewide register of guardians
