As of this morning, the expectation is that free-agent cornerback Brandon Flowers, who has drawn interest from several NFL teams, including the Vikings, will not visit the Vikings, according to a league source. Flowers spent yesterday in San Diego, where he met with the Chargers.

The Chargers were the first team to host Flowers, and the Ravens, Steelers and Falcons are reportedly among the teams who are interested in the free agent. The Vikings quickly reached out to Flower's representatives after his release, but as of now a visit has not been scheduled.

The Vikings have two spots in their secondary filled by cornerbacks Xavier Rhodes and Captain Munnerlyn, but the team was intrigued by the possibility of adding Flowers to their cornerback group. In today's pass-happy NFL, you really need three starting-caliber cornerbacks.

Josh Robinson, who was finally fully cleared for this week's minicamp, has been working as the third cornerback with Munnerlyn moving inside in the nickel. Derek Cox is also in the mix.

Flowers, who was selected to the Pro Bowl last season, was released by the Chiefs last week. Flowers had been a starter for the Chiefs since 2008, his rookie season. In 88 career games, the 28-year-old cornerback has recorded 17 interceptions and broken up 91 passes.
