A 37-year-old man was charged Tuesday with participating in the murder of a 32-year-old man in a north Minneapolis home, and authorities are casting their net out of state in search of the shooter.
Demiteras A. Cooper, of Minneapolis, was charged in Hennepin County District Court with aiding and abetting second-degree murder in the killing Thursday in the 2000 block of Hillside Avenue.
Cooper remains jailed in lieu of $1.25 million bail ahead of a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
As for the suspected shooter, "investigators have reason to believe that [he] has fled the area and may be out of state," the criminal complaint against Cooper read. "There is an active warrant for [his] arrest."
The identity of the shooting victim has yet to be released.
According to the complaint:
In the hours leading up to the killing, Cooper and two men went to a bar. Cooper and one of the men left, then argued and came to blows about leaving the other man behind.
Cooper drove to the home on Hillside with the man he had argued with and dropped the man off. The 32-year-old man who had been left at the bar also found his way to the home.
