A Coon Rapids man was sentenced to a little more than five years in prison for ramming his pregnant girlfriend with his pickup truck.

Jordan Knoff, 25, pleaded guilty in August to second-degree assault. He was sentenced Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court to 68 months in prison. He received credit for 181 days he's already served in jail.

According to charges and Knoff's testimony during his plea: Knoff's then-girlfriend got out of his truck on May 15 after an argument. Knoff accelerated the truck, turned it around and chased the woman in a Mounds View parking lot.

Knoff rammed the woman in the back, sending her flying through the air. Knoff drove up to the woman and yelled at her before he fled the scene.

The woman suffered "major road rash," but recovered and gave birth months later to a healthy baby.
