The Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park visitor center is now open year-round. Winter activities include fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, geocaching, hiking and bird-watching. The center rents skis and snowshoes and offers GPS units and self-guided activity backpacks. It also sells bait; its winter trout season runs through March 31. The center offers outdoor education programs for visitors of all ages, and exhibits on native reptiles, amphibians and fish.
