Three Rivers Park District plans to begin raising the 6-mile recreational pool above Coon Rapids Dam next week.
The district expects to reach the normal summer level by May 9, absent heavy rain. Near the dam, the pool's summer elevation of 830 feet above sea level is about 7 feet higher than the normal winter level.
The 1,000-foot dam is part of Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park and spans the Mississippi River from Brooklyn Park to Coon Rapids. For updates, visit www.ThreeRiversParkDistrict.org or call the district hotline at 763-559-6778.
