Vikings rookie cornerback Chris Cook, who missed the opening two games of the season becaus of a torn meniscus in his right knee, has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to NFL sources.
Cook, a second-round pick by the Vikings in April, won't play Monday night against the New York Jets and it's not certain how long he will be sidelined this time. Cook underwent arthroscopic surgery after tearing his right meniscus.
Cook was used by the Vikings in their nickel package in his first game back, playing the left corner as Antoine Winfield shifted inside when five defensive backs were employed.
It's believed that job might go to veteran Lito Sheppard for Monday night's game against the Jets. Sheppard spent last season with the Jets.
