Conservation won't be the biggest issue in the Governor's race this year. But in the land of 10,000 Lakes, the next Governor's conservation priorities will impact each of our lives for good or ill. And the word "ill" is appropriate in this context. The person who sits in the governor's chair in 2011 will significantly influence the health of our air, water and land — and our own health — as well as outdoor recreation opportunities that are so important to our economic health and way of life.

The only place right now where you can get information about the five major party candidates for governor and conservation — some of it in their own words, is http://checkthecandidates.org. How do the candidates stand on renewable energy? What will they do to protect clean water? What are their records?

If you're interested in knowing which candidates share your values, you now have a place to find out.
