July 24, 2016 at 4:07AM

Environment Kaine: He calls himself an "avid outdoorsman" and says that conservation can stimulate tourism and fishing economies. He supported opening Virginia's coast to offshore oil drilling. Where they differ: Clinton backs domestic drilling for oil and natural gas, including through fracking.

Abortion Kaine: As governor he supported some restrictions on abortion and said that he personally opposes abortion, but backs abortion rights. Where they differ: Clinton supports women's access to abortions.

Foreign policy Kaine: He has argued that President Obama must seek authorization from Congress before the U.S. military carries out airstrikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant. Where they differ: She has never suggested that such authorization is necessary.

Budget Kaine: A member of the Budget Committee, he supports "targeted spending reductions. Where they differ: Clinton wants to invest in research and infrastructure — rather than imposing deep spending cuts — to spur the economy.

Trade Kaine: Supports free trade, has defended the North American Free Trade Agreement and voted for "fast track" authority for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Where they differ: Clinton once called the TPP the "gold standard" of trade deals, but now opposes it.

Death Penalty Kaine: Opposes executions says state law required him to oversee 11 executions as governor. Where they differ: She supports the death penalty "for very limited purposes."
