Beginning March 1st, the Anti-Israel promotion: "Israeli Apartheid Week", will be held at universities across North America. Its' purpose is to increase support for boycotts, divestments and sanctions against Israel. Apartheid is defined as: a political system in S. Africa from 1948-1990s that separated the different peoples living there and gave particular privileges to those of European origin. It is included in the list of crimes against humanity at the Int. Criminal Court. In opposition to an apartheid system, a utopian society is the ideal. In a utopian world all are equal, under the law and in practice. Yet, no one nation has ever ruled as a "utopian society". Thus, apartheid policy, in varying degrees, could be attributed to virtually any nation in the world today. Through a utopian eyeglass, one could easily conclude that France and Switzerland practice apartheid against their minority muslim populations, and that Islamic populations practice apartheid against their own minorities. It follows then that Israel's policies as compared to all Middle Eastern nations' apartheid policies, logically, could be seen as the most humane in that region, possibly one of the best worldwide. Isn't that why the majority of minorities in the Middle East, given the choice today, would prefer to live under Israeli style government protections? Will those who single out Israel's policy deficiencies, also recognize her worldwide humanitarian efforts in countless areas such as science, medicine, environmental protection, and note Israel's international relief to the victims in Haiti, as well as their sending the hundreds of truckloads of supplies daily into Gaza to help feed and give general aid to its population?
