CNN reports that Minnesota Republican Norm Coleman is not attending the Republican National Committee's (RNC) summer meeting in Kansas City. The decision is being taken as a sign that the former U.S. senator wants to squelch rumors about a possible challenge to RNC chairman Michael Steele. Coleman, currently running the American Action Network, a group raising money for Republican candidates around the nation, has avoided questions about any ambition he may have to take over the RNC from the gaffe-prone Steele.
