Coleman raises $2 million in first quarter

THE LATEST: Sen. Norm Coleman brought in over $2 million in campaign contributions during the first quarter of 2008, according to the Coleman campaign, an increase from last quarter. During the fourth quarter of last year, Coleman raised $1.7 million.

TOTALS: Coleman reported a total of $12.37 million for his reelection cycle, with nearly $7 million cash on hand at the close of the reporting period in March.

DFL challengers Al Franken and University of St. Thomas Prof. Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer have not yet released their numbers.

Officials with Nelson-Pallmeyer's campaign, however, said the campaign raised more than $250,000, and has approximately $200,000 cash on hand.

Franken raised $1.9 million during the fourth quarter of last year and had $3.1 million cash on hand.
