The Twins have made it official. Righthander Cole De Vries will be called up from Class AAA Rochester to start the second game of the day-night doubleheader against the Royals on Saturday.

Thanks to a new rule, rosters can be expanded to 26 players for day-night doubleheaders, allowing the Twins to call up De Vries without having to make room for him.

De Vries was 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA in three starts with the Twins earlier this season. At Rochester, he's 3-5 with a 4.37 ERA in 12 starts. He will join the club today.

Also here today is righthander Kyle Waldrop, who was called up after Wednesday's game. Waldrop was set to make the team out of spring training but came down with elbow problems. He could be a key guy right away, with Matt Capps on the disabled list and Glen Perkins sharing closing duties with Jared Burton. The Twins need other relievers to raise their game as roles have changed.
