Cold Sets Stage for Late-Week Snowstorm

February 2, 2010 at 8:25PM

In order to get a major snowstorm, it's got to be good and cold first. Weknow that a storm is coming later this week, so will it be cold enough? Theanswer is, of course... This is February remember which is often the snowiestmonth of the year for the mid-Atlantic and New England.Wednesday, fresh cold air will spread over the Northeast, and there it willsit. Later in the week, the arctic dome will be attacked, by a southern stormand all of its moisture. That means more heavy snow from West Virginia toeastern Maryland and Delaware. This storm may get a little farther north thanthe last one and will dump heavy snow up to central Pennsylvania.

This very well could turn into another big snowstorm for the mid-Atlantic withamounts greater than 8 inches in northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, southern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. This isn't gospel yet, but wewanted to give you a heads up on where the worst of it could be.
