Following the passage of an arctic cold front, the Northeast will endure verycold and windy weather today and tonight. The winds will create bitterly coldwind chills across the entire region. The cold blusters will also cause blowingsnow in some areas as well as isolated damage.Highs today will mainly be in the 20s across a good portion of the Northeastwith some areas from northern Pennsylvania to northern Maine only topping outin the teens! Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia will hover around or justabove freezing as the air moderates closer to the mid-Atlantic coast.

With wind gusts over 40 mph, it will feel like the single digits and lowerteens today in New York City.

In downwind areas of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario as well as in northern NewEngland, blowing snow will reduce the visibility. In the strongest wind gusts,power lines and tree branches could be downed.
