CNN suspended global affairs correspondent Elise Labott for two weeks after she editorialized on the Syrian refugee crisis via Twitter.

Following the House of Representatives vote that would suspend the program allowing Syrian refugees entering the U.S. until it’s determined they pose no risk, Labott tweeted:

“House passes bill that could limit Syrian refugees. Statue of Liberty bows head in anguish.”

The blowback was swift, with many on Twitter going after Labott for crossing the line between objective reporter and commentator. "We can do without your pointless editorializing, 'reporter,'" one tweet said.

Labott reversed course after receiving incoming fire, tweeting her apologies: "Everyone, It was wrong of me to editorialize. My tweet was inappropriate and disrespectful. I sincerely apologize."
