Clouds a Factor in Tonight's Space Shuttle Landing

February 21, 2010 at 8:25PM

Space Shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to land amidst rather cloudy skies latethis evening at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The cloud cover and chancefor showers over parts of the Florida Peninsula could force a change of plans. If no landing flight rules are violated, Endeavour will return from a 13-daymission to the International Space Station at 10:20 p.m. EST tonight.

The weather at the Space Center at the time will be rather cloudy with a lightsoutheasterly wind. It is even possible that a few spotty showers will dot thearea. More unsettled weather, having showers and even a few thunderstorms willfollow on Monday.

In the event of unfavorable weather or any other unforeseen hazard, the landingof Endeavour could be delayed or shifted to Edwards Air Force Base inCalifornia. However, a storm in the West could also rule out Edwards Air ForceBase as an option tonight.
