Every once in a while, a storm will come out of western Canada, cross thenorthern Plains and gain enough moisture to produce a significant amount ofsnow in the East. This one will not do that.In general, snowfall from the northern Rockies to the Midwest from Friday intothe weekend will be on the light side, then the whole thing is likely to getcrushed by a large body of cold air coming down from the north.
So the storm itself will not dump a lot of snow, but the after effects will.
That big surge of cold air coming out of Canada will create streamers of heavysnow to the lee of the Great Lakes beginning Sunday night. In situations likethis, localized snowfalls of of 1 to 2 feet can occur. Keep in mind, however, that even though one location might be having a white-out, the sun may beshinning just 10 miles up the road.
