Wayzata, which upset Hopkins and Minneapolis South in the section playoffs en route to reaching the state tournament with a 16-13 record, continued its upset-minded ways by pulling a shocker and knocking off No. 2-seeded Maple Grove 56-50 in Wednesday's Class 4A quarterfinals.
The Crimson, which came in with a 27-2 record, led 31-17 at halftime and appeared to be cruising. But Wayzata rallied quickly, starting the second half on a 19-4 run to take the lead. The Trojans made several clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
