Sparked by a touchdown run and three TD passes from quarterback Josh Gran, Caledonia scored 34 second-quarter points to take a commanding lead at halftime on the way to a 55-7 victory over Ottertail Central.
Caledonia (13-0) will face the winner of Saturday's semifinal between Triton and Eden Valley-Watkins in next Friday's Prep Bowl. Both of those teams are also undefeated.
"Last game, we were pretty much limited to handing it off," said Gran, who finished with five TD passes and two TD runs. "This felt good."
Gran's 1-yard TD run just 41 seconds into the second quarter started the barrage, while a pair of TD passes – one to Travis Frank, the other to Lucas Lampert – expanded the lead to 20-0 with a little over four minutes to play in the half.
A pick-six interception return by Ethan Lapham added a cushion; a 30-yard TD on a flea-flicker with two minutes left from Gran to Lampert added the exclamation point on the quarter.

The heft so obviously lacking as the past few seasons played down is in place now, giving Minnesota the equipment to win, as Kwesi Adofo-Mensah put it, “any type of game.”
