DFL state Sen. Tarryl Clark filed Thursday to run against U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Joined by her husband and sons, Clark was at the Secretary of State's office around 9 a.m. to fill out her paper work.
"We need a representative in the Sixth District who does more than go on talk shows and spew a lot of rhetoric," Clark said after filing. "It's time to finish the job and do things for people of the Sixth District."
Clark, who was endorsed by the DFL, faces a primary battle against Dr. Maureen Reed, who filed for office earlier this week.
Reed, who has not held elected office, said she is more electable because Bachmann would make political hay out of Clark's voting record, which includes recent support of a failed proposal to increase taxes on Minnesota's highest earners.
Clark brushed off the criticism.
"I am the only candidate who has delivered real results for the people of the district," she said.
