Mayor Rybak asks City Council to approve $64,729 settlement

Greg Stubbs is resigning as director of the Department of Regulatory Services department after just nine months on the job.Mayor R. T. Rybak's office issued a memo today requesting that the City Council approve a $64,729 settlement equal to six months' severance. Stubbs has already agreed to leave and release the city from any legal claims, according to the mayor's office. His employment contract had extended to January 2, 2014.Rybak also wants council members to approve six months of COBRA payments and $6,000 in relocation expenses for the departing director.The resignation coincides with the mayor's budget proposal to shift key functions out of the regulatory services department into the department of Community Planning and Economic Development. Rybak said in his budget address Wednesday that the move could save $300,000 to $400,000 from cutting out a top tier of management.Stubbs, appointed on Nov. 18, most recently served as director of Growth and Resource Management for Volusia County, Fla.
