Members of the Midwest Peregrine Society were in the tower of City Hall to band this year's chicks when they made an interesting discovery.
They came across the remains of the tower's previous female peregrine resident and after reading her band number learned that she was hatched in 1992 at the Colonnade Building in Golden Valley.
According to the banding lab, she holds the record for the oldest known peregrine falcon in North America at 19 years 10 months since she was last spotted in March 2011.
The society also said that four falcon chicks were hatched this year — two male and two female.
The society has named one of the females Eve but is looking for help naming the other three. Name suggestions will be taken until 4 p.m. July 5 and then final voting will be open until 4 p.m. July 19.
