Chisago County township votes against sports park

October 23, 2014 at 2:50AM

A western Chisago County township board voted unanimously Tuesday night against issuing a permit for a proposed sports park, farmers market and flea market.

Board members voted 3-0 against the 90-acre outdoor complex, the Lent Township clerk said Wednesday.

The proposal for the park, which would have been near a golf course at 32695 Falcon Av., was first presented to officials more than a year ago.

Song Anderson, who bought the land a few years ago, has said the proposed sports park, on land about 15 miles south of North Branch, would have featured soccer fields with a few tennis and basketball courts, and would have attracted teams from out of town as well as local athletes. There would have been a fee for use of the sports park, but the farmers and flea markets would have been free and open to the public.
