As the area's original pizza farm, A to Z Produce and Bakery has got the system down pat. It's a truly enchanting setting (with a strict bring-your-own-everything rule book), and the two busy ovens crank out an ever-changing roster of distinctive pizzas, all topped with hyper-seasonal ingredients. It's the ultimate farm-to-table experience, except that diners provide their own tables or picnic blankets. Plan to wait, as the Bannen-Fisher farmstead is justifiably popular. It's all about the picturesque setting at the Stone Barn — even the drive off Hwy. 35 is a stunner — where an outdoor dining room is nestled inside the century-old foundations of a former barn. It's no longer a working farm, but the flatbread-style pizzas boast house-made sausages and herbs grown on the premises, and there's beer and wine, plus ice cream. At Suncrest Gardens Farm, owner Heather Secrist fires up her wood-burning oven and turns out a half-dozen 16-inch pizzas. Beer and soft drinks (and free well water) are also on the menu, and the vegetable farm is a kid-friendly environment. On your way out, pick up some eggs, or one of Secrist's baked goodies.
