Lovely Gorkha Palace is marking its second anniversary by offering a deal to its weekday lunch customers: 15 percent off the price of the restaurant's terrific, changes-daily lunch buffet. Other events include complimentary wine and tea tastings, door prizes and music. The celebration starts Monday and runs through Sept. 30.

During October, five-year-old Heidi's is throwing a monthlong anniversary party by offering a $60, seven-course tasting menu. Chef/co-owner Stewart Woodman is promising to revive several greatest hits, including barramundi with mussel foam, and his divine vegetarian Bolognese.

What a sweet idea: This year marks the centennial of Julia Child's birth, and Salut Bar Americain pays homage every Monday night by offering a different dish from Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." The kitchen also tosses in a copy of the recipe.
