Chaska High School is beginning a multiyear improvement plan this summer that will cost $3 million between now and 2015.
Chaska High School starts $3 million in upgrades
The first set of changes includes reconstructing tennis courts, resurfacing the track, filling potholes, repairing parking lots, repaving drive lanes and walks, and repainting and replacing locks on about 500 lockers.
School officials said those projects need to be done for safety reasons, and most will be finished this summer before the school year begins.
Also scheduled are upgrades to lighting, doors and the school theater.
Work in the 2013-15 phases includes additional parking lot work, roofing repairs, interior painting, new classroom carpets, and updated pumps, motors and other components for machines in the building.
The Chaska High building was built in 1996, and a newer section was opened five years ago. About 1,250 students attend the school in ninth through 12th grades.
