ABOUT THE RIDE-IN

Some 5,000 people from across the nation are expected to attend what is billed as the world's largest vintage and antique snowmobile event this weekend at Waconia. Here are details:

IN ACTION

You can see 500 to 800 vintage snowmobiles in action at the 12-mile trail ride on Lake Waconia, which begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. Expect plenty of noise and blue smoke. Snowmobile races also will be held.

ON DISPLAY

At least 500 to 800 vintage sleds, and likely more, will be on display 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the snowmobile show, and there's more racing, too.

EXTRAS

The event includes a swap meet, party, banquet, silent auction and loud snowmobile contest. Cost is $15 Saturday, $10 Sunday or $25 for the weekend; kids under 12 free. For more information, see www.mwvss.com or call 651-649-4688.
