Titletown in the southwest metro

Nine of 18: Since 1996 the Eagles have won half of the big-school state titles. The longest the school went without one was three seasons. Only once, in 2009, did the Eagles reach the Prep Bowl and lose, 16-5 to Cretin-Derham Hall.

Before E.P.? The last team not named Eden Prairie to win the large-school title was Wayzata in 2010.

Prep Bowl three-repeat: In 2011 the Eagles defeated Lake Conference rival Wayzata 13-3 in the championship game. The next season, one in which Eden Prairie lost back-to-back games in the regular season, it defeated Lakeville North 28-7. In 2013 the Eagles went undefeated and vanquished Rosemount, also of the South Suburban Conference, by a 28-7 score.

Who can stop them? Rosemount, unbeaten and ranked second by most polls all season, is seen by many as having the best chance. While undefeated Eden Prairie is viewed as less dominant this season than last year's team, the Irish's schedule hasn't been the toughest, either.
