ABOUT THE COWBOYS record: 4-4

• The Cowboys fell to the Lions 31-30 on Sunday, giving up 623 yards.

• Dallas is the first team in NFL history to allow more than one 400-yard passer in a season, allowing four through eight games.

• WR Dez Bryant has nine 100-yard receiving games in his career, third-most for a Dallas wide receiver through four seasons.

• LB Sean Lee had two of his four interceptions this season against the Lions. He's second in the NFL with 81 tackles, behind the Bengals' Vontaze Bur-fict.

• DE DeMarcus Ware has missed the past two games because of a thigh injury. He didn't practice Wednesday.

• RB DeMarco Murray (knee) didn't play against the Lions, but he practiced last week and on Wednesday.

PLAYER SPEAK QB TONY ROMO

• Romo is 59-42 in 101 career regular-season starts. He's 1-2 against the Vikings, including the 34-3 NFC Divisional round loss at the Metrodome following the 2009 season.

• He has thrown 195 touchdowns since 2006, fifth-most in the NFL during that time. Romo has thrown a touchdown in 21 consecutive games, a franchise record.

• On the Vikings secondary: "I think they're going to pressure us with a little shell coverage this week. That's where they keep the safeties helping the corner."

On Bryant's animated sideline behavior during the loss to Detroit: "He's never anything you'd deem selfish. He's a selfless teammate. He cares about his teammates and wants to go out there and compete."

COACH SPEAK JASON GARRETT

• Garrett, 47, is in his third full NFL season as the Cowboys head coach. He is 25-23 after replacing Wade Phillips during the 2010 season.

On the defense: "We've faced some quarterbacks, and they've done a good job moving the football throughout the ballgame. We just have to do a better job affecting the quarterback and on the back end just covering the guys."

• On Adrian Peterson: "I've never seen him not amped up. Whatever we've got against him, he's been a heck of a player. Whatever that extra incentive he has coming back to Texas [Peterson grew up in Palestine, Texas], he seems to demonstrate that week in and week out."

• On Bryant's sideline rant: "You continue to emphasize to him and the rest of the team that you have to channel that and focus that energy and passion into the right things. In most cases, it's just getting ready for the next play."
