Football season of firsts
Just like that, the high school football regular season is half over. It's an offshoot of moving the Prep Bowl two weeks earlier than usual because of TCF Bank Stadium availability concerns. Other changes this year:
• No preseason scrimmage; first games were played after two weeks of practice.
• No back-to-back two-a-day practices because of safety concerns.
• Conferences dissolved in favor of district scheduling; some schools experiencing more competitive games.
