Metro Top 10

As selected by staff writer Jim Paulsen

1. Eden Prairie (2-0): After two convincing home victories, the Eagles take their machine to Totino-Grace for a Thursday night showdown.

2. East Ridge (2-0): The Raptors have a stockpile of talent in J.C. Hassenauer, Seth Green, Nick Leach, George Behr, etc.

3. Minnetonka (3-0): Four more TD passes for the season's breakout star, Tonka QB Nick Rooney, in a comeback victory over Osseo.

4. Lakeville North (2-0): The Panthers defense, the key to their 2012 run to the Prep Bowl, has not allowed a point in two games.

5. Totino-Grace (2-0): Any lingering questions about the Eagles' move to Class 6A were answered by a convincing road victory at Edina.

6. Wayzata (1-1): The Trojans have some offensive bugs to work out following a loss to Lakeville South.

7. Maple Grove (2-0): In two games, RB Tahi Nomane has rushed for 542 yards and five touchdowns.

8. Andover (2-0): The only Class 5A team in the rankings boasts the metro's best passing offense — 720 yards in two games.

9. Prior Lake (1-1): The 35-21 loss at Eden Prairie should provide a measure of motivation for the talented Lakers.

10. Rosemount (1-1): The emergence of QB Jackson Erdmann as a passer adds a layer of depth to the Irish offense.

Others worth noting: Lakeville South, Mounds View, Stillwater, Cretin-Derham Hall, Blaine.
