Time for a change? five who might fit

If Ron Gardenhire is fired and the Twins stick with their long-standing philosophy of staying in-house, here are five candidates to be the new manager:

Paul Molitor

A native Minnesotan and Hall of Famer, but he's never managed. He was, however, a minor league instructor for Twins for 10 seasons and a major league coach in 2014.

Terry Steinbach

Another native Minnesotan who was the catcher — a position that has produced an inordinate number of managers — on Tony LaRussa's winning Oakland teams.

Gene Glynn

Yes, another native Minnesotan who has been a solid career baseball man, most recently at the Twins' Class AAA Rochester farm club.

Doug Mientkiewicz

Ex-Twin who has been a winner at Class A Fort Myers. His outgoing personality would play well with fans.

Dan Gladden

A long shot, but a number of broadcasters have become managers. If the Twins want to shake up things, there would be no one better than Gladden.
