Age: 43
Team: St. Louis Cardinals
About: Matheny started with the Brewers and won four Gold Glove Awards as a catcher for the Cardinals and Giants. He retired as a player in 2007 after suffering multiple concussions. Matheny had no coaching or managing experience when the Cardinals tabbed him to replace Tony La Russa after the 2011 season, but Matheny had St. Louis back in the World Series last year. La Russa, a six-time All-Star manager, can lend him plenty of advice.
