Melky Cabrera, OF: He can hit, as his .808 on base-plus-slugging percentage last season shows. A reunion with buddy Robinson Cano in Seattle?

Nelson Cruz, OF: He got through his qualifying offer of last offseason and is poised to cash in after bashing 40 homers.

Jon Lester, LHP: Open to returning to the Red Sox but should be sought after by several contenders.

Francisco Liriano, LHP: He can strike batters out with his sharp slider but will not eat up innings.

Russell Martin, C: He's the only high-quality catcher on the market and should cash in.

Victor Martinez, DH: He's coming off a career year — but at age 35, teams will be reluctant to give him a long-term deal.

Hanley Ramirez, 3B: He can be a force at the plate but has been forced into the trainer's room a lot over the past four years.

Pablo Sandoval, 3B: His weight issues are ongoing, but he was terrific in the World Series. Could re-sign with the Giants.

Ervin Santana, RHP: He's made at least 30 starts in each of the past five seasons. A good mid-rotation stabilizer.

Max Scherzer, RHP: He's 70-24 over the past four years. He won 39 games the past two. He's about to get paid.

James Shields, RHP: He's durable and has playoff experience. Perfect arm for teams looking for a horse.
