About Burnham

Age: 19.

Hometown: Maple Grove; plays out of Rush Creek Golf Course.

High school: Wayzata. Six-year varsity golfer, four-time all-state selection, won 2013 Class AAA state title.

College: Rising sophomore at Michigan State. Tied for 18th in the Big Ten tournament as a freshman.

Major golf accomplishments: Qualified for this week's U.S. Women's Open. In 2014, qualified for match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur, won state junior girls title and won state women's match play title. Won women's state open in 2013.

Why she chose Michigan State: Because it felt like home and she got along with the team, which was important to her. "I knew I wanted to be a Spartan almost right away," Burnham said.
