A 36-year-old Minneapolis man repeatedly raped a teenage relative who had moved into his north Minneapolis home after her parents moved, according to charges filed Monday.

Luis A. Paredes-Quito was charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct, three of them first-degree.

He is in Hennepin County jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.

The criminal complaint laid out an exchange between Paredes-Quito and his victim in a police-monitored telephone conversation on March 8, two weeks after the alleged abuse was reported to police:

"I didn't want to have sex with you," she said. "I know you helped me, but you also damaged me."

Paredes-Quito responded: "Just please don't say anything. ... I am sorry, forgive me. I know what I did was wrong."

In an interview with police, Paredes-Quito admitted to raping the girl at least 20 times and having other sexual contact with her, according to the complaint.

The abuse began in June 2008 when she was 14, according to the charges.

It continued until May 2010, when Paredes-Quito learned that the girl's father was returning for her, according to the complaint.
