Charges filed against Hastings man in 80-pound pot bust

January 22, 2014 at 2:32AM

A 34-year-old Hastings man who took possession of about 80 pounds of marijuana from a police informant was charged Tuesday with felony drug possession with intent to sell.

Agents with the Dakota County Drug Task Force found more marijuana in the freezer at Gregory Spakow's rural home, as well as a 20-gauge shotgun and seven cellphones, according to the charges.

The complaint said authorities watched as Spakow and "an unknown male" took the stash from the informant's vehicle and put it in a shed on Spakow's property. The task force then searched the home and property and found more drugs, paraphernalia and the other items.

Sheriff Dave Bellows said the 80 pounds of marijuana doesn't constitute a county record, but clearly was an amount intended for sale, not personal use.
