Key stat: Florida State plays in its 27th consecutive bowl game, replacing Michigan as the leader, and goes for nine wins for the 18th time in 22 years.

Key players: Miami defensive ends Everette Brown and Neefy Moffet must buck up a unit that ranked 69th against the run. The Badgers are led by running back P.J. Hill, who rushed for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The skinny: With an offensive line averaging 319 pounds and fullback Chris Pressley leading the way for Hill, Wisconsin must establish its ground game.

Did you know? Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema was 7 years old when Florida State's Bobby Bowden (20-10-1 bowl record) won his first bowl game.

North Carolina vs. West Virginia

Records: North Carolina 8-4, West Virginia 8-4

Key stat: North Carolina wide receiver Hakeem Nicks set a school record with 1,005 yards receiving. The junior may turn pro after this game, in his hometown.

Key players: Quarterback Pat White plays his final game for West Virginia. The NCAA's all-time rushing leader among quarterbacks with 4,425 yards, White has rushed for 919 yards and eight touchdowns and passed for 1,510 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions this season.

The skinny: North Carolina's defense, 62nd nationally, must stand up to White.

Did you know? This looked like a potential Orange Bowl matchup before West Virginia split its final four games and North Carolina lost two of its last three.

Miami (Fla.) vs. California

The skinny: Miami freshman QB Jacory Harris, in his second career start, faces a Golden Bears defense that intercepted 23 passes, third-best in the nation.
