Cereal ad campaign is too manly, man says

Wheaties Fuel may be formulated for men, but this Texan says it sends the wrong message.

Among the complaints that arrive daily in Whistleblower's inbox, Patrick Greene's long-distance gripe stands out. He's a Texas truck driver who's angry at General Mills and its manly new breakfast cereal, Wheaties Fuel. He said he has filed formal complaints about Wheaties Fuel's marketing campaign, which features male athletes and macho colors.

Greene says the ad campaign discriminates against women. It doesn't matter if the company thinks men won't buy cereal with pictures of female athletes on the box.

"If you're going to do that at the risk of sending out the idea that men are more important than women just to make money, that's immoral," Greene said. His online petition has so far attracted no signatures.

Cereal eaters, it's your turn to blow the whistle. Or not.
