Celebrity chef Bobby Flay's America takes Aqueduct feature

NEW YORK — Celebrity chef Bobby Flay is a winner at the track, too.

The "Throwdown! with Bobby Flay" star's horse America, the 1-2 favorite, won the $65,550 allowance feature Wednesday for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.

Irad Ortiz, Jr. was aboard for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott as the 3-year-old posted a second straight win, improving to 3 for 12 overall.

America beat Holiday's Jewel by 1 3/4 lengths in the four-horse field. The time was 1:45.46 for the one mile, 70 yards on the track rated good.

America paid $3 and $2.70 while Holiday's Jewel returned $5.80.

Evening Show was third followed by Lunar Surge.

There was no show wagering.
