Flamenco dancer Sachiko 'La Chayí' Nishiuchi

Flamenco at the VFW? Sure, why not. Sachiko "La Chayí" Nishiuchi is no stranger to performing her fierce and fiery flamenco dancing in bar settings. And the roomy yet intimate atmosphere at the James Ballentine Uptown VFW feels perfect for the solo artist and 2017 McKnight Dancer Fellow. "Regresar [Return]" is the latest performance with which Nishiuchi shares her passion and skill in a social atmosphere. Joining "La Chayí" will be flamenco guitarist Angel Ruiz and percussionist Luis de la Tota, both from Spain, as well as vocalist José Cortés from Marseille, France. Nishiuchi herself is originally from Osaka, Japan, and studied the art of flamenco for five years in Spain. (5:30 p.m. Sun., James Ballentine Uptown VFW, 2916 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls., $22-$25, 612-823-6233, uptownvfw.org)

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
