Niklas Backstrom will start in goal tonight in Columbus for the Wild.

Youngblood here from Ohio, as Russo has a couple of days off.

Casey Wellman was called up by the Wild. I noticed it when I came to skate this morning and saw it on the game notes; the team just announced if officially a few moments ago.

The team has been a little short in the depth department since Guillaume Latendresse went down with a concussion. There was room on the roster as the Wild has been one short of the roster maximum for a while now.

Still, we'll see if there is another Wild forward banged up when we talk with coach Mike Yeo later.

Wellman leads the Houston Aeros and ranks tied for second in the AHL with 10 goals. Seven of them have come on the power play. He is also second on the Aeros with 15 points.

Wellman has a total of 27 games of NHL experience with the Wild, getting two goals and five points.

More after practice.
