Anoka County Commissioner Carol LeDoux is expected to announce in September that she will retire from the County Board after her current term runs out, at the end of next year.

"The rumors are rumors," LeDoux said last week of speculation of her future.

LeDoux, 65, is the widow of Scott LeDoux, who was Minnesota's most popular boxer ever, and, arguably, Anoka County's most popular commissioner. After Scott LeDoux, who was battling ALS at the time, resigned from the board in 2010, his wife successfully ran for his seat. She was re-elected last year by an overwhelming margin.

LeDoux may retire from the board, but not from public life.

"I've been in public life the last 16 years and I will continue to be in public service, in a different role," she said.
